Geonucleus
Geonucleus is a simple tool for documentation. Recommended for geoscientists (students and professionals), who want to save their field documentations in a practical form.
Geological mapping is the most traditional (and the cheapest) way of collecting information from the deposits and rocks. The traditional technique of the documentation was refined by generations of geologists during the last few centuries. These traditions were implemented into Geonucleus to create a tool for precise data recording and visualization, but giving the freedom of pondering on the details of the observation as well. The Geonucleus creates a well structured database of the recorded data without the necessity of a running database application on the client computer. The observations can be saved in simple text format as well, but primarily the xml-based kml (Keyhole Markup Languege) is supported which can be loaded into Google Map or Google Earth or any GIS software (e.g. Global Mapper or QGIS). The database representation is aimed to visualize the observations in a well comprehensible form.
The Geonucleus server is currently running in the Eötvös Loránd University Department of Geoinformatics and Cartography. The idea and the technical background of the application came from the following publication:

Geonucleus was mentioned in the XX. CGBA conference (Tirana, Albania) workshop on Implementation of Tectonic Database for General Purposes:
